Margot Robbie Taking a Break?

Margot Robbie is one of, if not the biggest actress in the world right now. Flying high off of her absolute smash hit, Barbie, the actress sat down with Deadline to talk about her success not only as an actress, but as a producer as well.

During the interview, Robbie was asked about a break and it seemed like she wanted to take one after working for so long, “If I did another movie too soon, people would say, ‘Her again?’” Today I am going to look back at her movies, how well they’ve performed and if we really want a break from her.

Since 2013, Robbie has been in countless movies. These range from large, leading roles like in The Wolf of Wall Street, or I, Tonya to small almost cameo-like roles in movies like Asteroid City, and The Big Short. In acting in all those movies, Robbie has shown time and time again that she can act better than anyone else. She has been nominated for awards including leading, and supporting roles a total of 169 times, and winning 25 of those.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Robbie has continued to have movies come out, but many of them have had mixed reviews and fan reactions. Since, 2021 and while in leading roles, Robbie’s movies have had an average 66% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 69% fan rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s safe to say that those aren’t numbers a star like her should put up. However, across those movies there has been one consensus: Margot Robbie is the best part of those movies. Outshining other actors like Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, and Ryan Gosling is no easy task.

On top of being an actress, Robbie also has her very own production company, so when asked about taking a break she laughed about it. “You know I’m a producer right? We don’t get a break. [Laughs].” After, she did cite that this had been the longest time she hadn’t been on the set of a movie. She has been on an acting, but not promotional break since October of 2022 when Barbie wrapped filming.

When this article from Deadline came out, it left people very confused. Numerous users on X/Twitter voiced their confusion.

Robbie has worked a lot in the past ten years and she’ll be sorely missed when she goes on her acting break. Many don’t want her to stop, but everyone is human; everyone needs a break at some point. Maybe when she comes back it’ll be the best she’s ever given us. Maybe it’ll be something funny that we can laugh with in theaters, or maybe it might be a dud. Who knows? All I know is that we should be thankful for the talent we’ve seen rise in the last ten years.
