My Most Anticipated Movies for the First Half of 2024

 My Most Anticipated Movies

for the First Half of 2024

Many people have said that 2024 will be a filler year for movies simply because 2025 will be such a big year. With movies like The Batman part 2, Superman: Legacy, Avatar 3, the Minecraft movie, Mission: Impossible 8, and so many more, it’s hard to not look forward to 2025. However, I feel that 2024 has a lot to offer. Here are 5 movies that I think you should be excited for in the first 6 months of this year.

5. The Fall Guy- May 3

This movie looks like so much fun, with superstar Ryan Gosling looking like he’s having the time of his life and a stellar cast that includes Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Hannah Waddingham. As this follows a stuntman who is in over his head, The Fall Guy is destined to bring some good laughs to you and everyone in the theater.

4. Inside Out 2- June 14

The first Inside Out movie was a great family movie. Bringing emotions to life would is not an easy accomplishment, but here we are, ready for the sequel. Riley has grown up a little bit and we see our favorites of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, but a new face has come to the show. Anxiety comes into Rileys life and I feel that there will be so many people who will be able to relate to this on numerous levels. Anxiety is not something that many take lightly, and I hope that this will help some realize that they aren’t the only ones out there dealing with what they are going through.

3. Civil War- April 26

From esteemed studio A24, Civil War follows journalists as they do their best to cover a new American Civil War caused by the government’s dictatorship and the states’ desire to secede. This looks like a thrilling movie that will keep everyone on the edge of their seat throughout the entire 1 hour and 49 minute runtime.

2. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes- May 24

One of my personal favorite franchises is back and I cannot wait for it. Years after Caesar, a new ape must make the difficult choices of what’s best for apes and humans alike. As usual with these movies, the VFX looks phenomenal. The two biggest things for me in this movie is that it swaps the humans’ and apes’ standpoints and begins to explore more of the world. Apes are now the dominant species on earth and humans have turned to primitive ways to survive. The first three movies in this series take place in and around San Francisco so I feel that getting to dive deeper and explore the world beyond one city will be a huge bonus in this movie.

1. Dune: Part 2- March 1

Dune was my favorite movie from 2021, and now having read the first two books in the series I can’t be more excited for part 2. Paul Atreides fights for Arrakis in the second part of this sci-fi blockbuster. This cast is so stacked that if I were to list some names I would feel that I am leaving someone out if I had to stop. Director Denis Villeneuve looks to continue his run of excellent movies over the past 11 years. Like Planet of the Apes, this movie seems like it will have phenomenal VFX. From large scale explosions, to legions fighting on the sands, this VFX team has had their work cut out for them. Adding on to the  expected great VFX, Hans Zimmer is also coming back to compose the score for this movie. As Zimmer already has an Oscar under his belt for the first part, expect the music to be on another level.
