Top Streaming Picks for this Week 1/15-1/21

Finding something to stream isn’t always easy, but that’s what I am here for. These are my top 5 streaming picks this week.

5. The Super Mario Bros Movie- Netflix

With a release date of April 5th of 2023, The Super Mario Bros Movie was the first movie last year to cross the 1 billion dollar mark at the box office. With all time lovable characters, ranging from Mario to Donkey Kong, this movie will leave you with a smile on your face. At only an hour and a half, this is a fast paced movie that will keep you interested the whole time.

4. Mission: Impossible 1-4- Amazon Prime

Tom Cruise is without a doubt, the biggest action star of my lifetime. With countless amazing stunts, it’s hard not to just sit in awe of what you’re watching. The first 4 Mission: Impossible movies can definitely use some improvements, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Fast paced action, with good stunt work and stories, will leave you wanting to rent the last three.

3. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood- Hulu

Not up to anything today, or are you doing something but still want a movie playing in the background? I have the perfect movie for you: a feel good time in Hollywood as some of the biggest stars of today go out and shine for director Quinten Tarantino. A falling star, along with his stuntman and a neighbor, takes you all through Hollywood as Tarantino gives us a near three hour look into what the last days of Hollywood’s golden age was like.

2. The Nice Guys- Netflix

Ryan Gosling isn’t just one of the best actors working today, but one of the funniest as well. This comedy with immense chemistry between the leads is not to be matched. Everyone in this movie shines in their roles. The Nice Guys is of the funniest movies I have seen in a while, with one of my all time favorite lines.

1. Avatar: The Way of Water- Disney+/Max

A visually stunning masterpiece Avatar: The Way of Water does not leave a once of disappointment. Jake Sully has settled down in Pandora and now has four kids. Focusing on the kids this time around was a great decision from director James Cameron who gave each child their own storyline that matched well with the new world building. The world building was done so well here, like the first Avatar movie, it follows a similar pattern of Jake Sully learning to adapt to a new environment. I can’t truly say that I have any complaints about this movie.
